As pilots, we are continuously faced with the prospects of "get-there-itis", not wanting to dissapoint our passengers or being able to complete any flight by our flying skills "aka - having the right stuff".
This video portrays the real life consequences of a pilot whom when faced with myriad opportunities to "break the accident chain" continued on and subsequently met with a tragic outcome.
Pay particular attention to the pilots communications. Note - the simulation of the aircraft suggests a technically advanced aircraft with advanced avionics. Might this accident have been avoided simply by activating the auto pilot w/altitude hold and flying direct to or by the heading bug? What about slowing down or declaring an emergency? Or all of the above?
