As most local pilots know we have few AME's to choose from these days so...
Good to my word, I ventured up to Vincennes to visit with Dr. Scott Stine and obtained my Class 2 medical. Here's what I found:
1) The trip is easy enough to make without the Direct To function of the Garmin navigator. 2) The medical building has plenty of parking and is well marked. 3) The staff is terrific and welcoming. 4) In a word, my aviation exam was more thorough than my recently completed annual physical with my primary care doctor, but methodical and conducted competently. 5) As you all know, Dr. Stine is a pilot. His approach is all about getting you flying safely and without any hassles from the regional flight surgeon or FAA. 6) Scheduling is via email and confirmed the same way. Evenings after 5PM and weekends too! 7) Dr. Stine will consult with you if you are considering or require a new medication or treatment - that way you won't put your ticket at risk. 8) Class 2 and 3 exams are $100; I understand that's less than the rate here in Evansville. 9) You have to "experience" his private office. It is like a combination aviation and physicians museum. 10) If you have any concerns or issues PRIOR to your visit, contact him for a consult. He will work with you to get you and KEEP YOU FLYING!
I can highly recommend him to anyone considering an AME or PCP.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
