EAA Chapter 21 has been asked if we wished to sponsor the EAA Tri Motor here for the period Sept. 24th to Oct. 1st. Additional information may be found here:

https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/flight-exper ... plane-tour

The discussions with EAA National, the FBO's and others are in the very early stages and no promises have been made. Nor has the site been determined (KEHR or KEVV).

As a sponsor, the Chapter must commit to providing 4 volunteers for two shifts daily for a period of 3-4 days. Said differently, an expected maximum total of 128 hours of volunteer coverage.

The Chapters responsibilities are outlined here:

Remember, this is the same weekend as our second Young Eagles event so plan your time accordingly.

To commit to hosting the Ford Tri-Motor, we as a Chapter need to commit a maximum 250 man hours (4 person shifts, 2-four hour shifts/day; max. 4 days).

The visit would be scheduled September 24th to October 1st (she re-positions on Mondays and flies here for 3 days - probably Thur-Saturday wx permitting).

To get the green light, we'd need 8 persons a day for 4 hours for up to 4 days to support the aircraft and crew.

If you can commit this early, please indicate your willingness by replying to rsvp@eaa21.org

It's a good fund raising opportunity but it comes with the cost of a significant investment in time by the Chapter.

First, I want to thank everyone who offered to volunteer for the Tri Motor visit. It is appreciated.

Regrettably, we could not muster enough volunteers to cover the minimum required for the period. Accordingly, I notified EAA that we were not in a position to host the aircraft.

That said, we still have the second Young Eagles event planned for the same weekend. Our focus now is to make that event as safe and successful as possible.
