Thanks Bill, great job last night. I wanted to share more accurate Cirrus performance figures. In my few hours in the SR20 I see a little less airspeed but also less fuel burn running LOP. I’m still learning so I’ll post new data next month.

Here’s the SR20 POH: http://www.cospilot.com/files/SR20_POH.pdf

Post subject:  DA40-180 Mean Aerodynamic Chord calculation per POH

OK, so Zeller was correct (though don't tell him I said so...). Herein is the POH data on the DA40-180 tapered wing and the APPROX MAC in feet. The inch conversion and W&B tolerance I calculated to be respectively:

MAC (inches) 45.72 and,
W&B tolerance for AC less than 5,000 lb. gross (see AC 43.13-1) is:
0.05 x MAC = 0.05 x 45.72 = 2.3 inches; wt. <=1.0 US pound

Note: these are estimates. Please check with your A&P for the actual requirements. These are considered "negligible weight and CG changes".

Reference FAA W&B Handbook and AC 43.13-1/2B for additional information (too big to attach here).

DA 40-180 Wing data from the POH:

Wing

Airfoil Wortmann FX 63-137/20- W4

Wing Area appr. 13.54 m2 appr. 145.7 sq.ft.

Mean aerodynamic chord (MAC) appr. 1.121 m appr. 3ft 8.1 in

Aspect ratio appr. 10.53 Dihedral appr. 5° )

Leading edge sweep appr. 1°
