We have 4-5 people interested from the Freedom Heritage Museum and the IN Wing of the CAF in Indianapolis to and attend ground school for a WWII C-47* at the Greatest Generation Aircraft (GGA) in Fort Worth TX (Meacham International Airport - KFTW). It is desirable to have around 10 going as the GGA will be more accommodating to our dates and give us a better rate. Would you think and are you willing to send this invitation to the members of the local EAA (both pilots and non-pilots) to see who would be interested in joining us.

The purpose is three-fold:
1.) fun & unique experience,
2.) camaraderie with board members of the Freedom Heritage Museum and IN Wing of the CAF,
3.) learn how to put on a ground school for fundraising (we will conduct a ground school on the Republic Aviation P-47 in Evansville the 14th of June as a fundraiser for the FHM).

The Greatest Generation Aircraft are willing to provide us a customized program. Their experienced C-47 pilots and crew chiefs will conduct the ground school. It will cover aircraft systems, servicing, and flight operations. In addition to the half day ground school, each attendee will get 30 min at the flight controls along with a log book entry. I’m not aware of any organization that would allow us to fly a C-47. There will be a fee (tax deductible) to the Greatest Generation Aircraft of $500 (a little more if we have less than 10 attendees). In addition, each attendee will need to pay for their travel expenses (up to two nights lodging, food, transportation – there may be some private aircraft that will go). We would arrive in Fort Worth late on a FRI, spend all day on a SAT with the C-47 (pilots and crew are available on SATs), and depart for home on a SUN.

We have narrowed the SAT and weekends to 26 April, 3 May, or 17 May.

Any questions let me know.
